The Assistant Director, Stewardship is an essential member of the Donor Relations team within the Georgetown Law Advancement Department. This position provides quality and timely stewardship to Law Center donors. This position is responsible for all aspects of scholarship, endowed, and current use fund stewardship, including annual reporting. This position is crucial in liaising between the Admissions, Financial Aid, Financial Affairs, Communications, Alumni Affairs, Development, the Dean's Office, and Central Campus Stewardship departments to monitor fund spending and reporting. Also, this position plans, executes, and supports stewardship events, including an annual celebration for scholarship donors and a student gratitude event (in coordination with the Law Annual Fund team). Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
- Plan and execute the annual scholarship reception, professorship/chair installations, and student gratitude events.
- Manage the endowed fund donor database, producing annual scholarship and other endowed funds reports and drafting fund profiles for donor review in conjunction with Major Gift Officers.
- Solicit and refine scholarship recipient profiles, updates, letters, and/or reports from professorship and chair holders, soliciting and reviewing available fund balances for all endowed funds at the Law Center.
- Provide fund balance verification and donor preferences to Admissions and Financial Aid departments, as part of annual process of awarding scholarships, further supporting this process as needed.
- Facilitate ad hoc, in person stewardship opportunities between professorship and chair holders and their funds' donors.
- Work in collaboration with the Director, other team members, and other departments as needed to develop and implement a comprehensive stewardship program that includes, but is not limited to, written acknowledgement of donors, donor impact pieces, and appropriate stewardship events/engagement opportunities.
- Provide endowed funds data management and reporting for members of the development team, maintaining accuracy of database and routinely updating/verifying donor contact and other pertinent information.
- Allocate projects to student and temporary employees as needed, providing appropriate instructions and supervision.
- Act as a key player as the team develops a more personalized stewardship plan for donors of $1 million or more to Georgetown Law.
Work Interactions
The Assistant Director, Stewardship reports to the Director, Law Donor Relations and works within the Development Team in the Law Advancement Department. This person works closely with the Director of Donor Relations, the Associate Director, Gift and Constituent Data, the Office of Financial Aid, the Office of Admissions, the Finance Office, Office of Advancement Donor Relations/Stewardship team, Principal and Major Gifts Officers, Office of Special Events and the Dean's Office.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- 3-5 years of donor relations experience, preference for candidates with experience in higher education stewardship and donor relations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work delicately with internal and external constituents
- Strong computer skills and aptitude for reporting and analyzing data
- Familiarity or current/previous affiliation with Association of Donor Relations Professionals (ADRP) and/or Donor Relations Guru
- Ability to employ creativity and expertise in developing new donor recognition opportunities, written and otherwise
- Ability to continually conceptualize innovative ways to improve how Georgetown Law stewards donors who make long term investments in the institution

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$44,022.00 - $73,406.80
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
